read moreWe created our unique regional model, structure and prioritized initiatives based on the following guiding principles:

We facilitate boundary spanning to address the systemic and intertwined issues of climate change and racial injustice. By integrating and connecting different segments of the field, we create a cohesive and thriving conservation movement.

Our governance structure evolves from a "seeding” to a “rooting" circle, ensuring alignment with our values and principles. This fosters creative and regenerative governance in line with our values.

Recognizing regional differences, we establish pilot networks in both high and low capacity regions. This promotes learning and collaboration between diverse communities.

Our project is designed for lasting systemic change, seeking funding and support for long-term investments of ten, twenty, or thirty years to ensure sustained impact and transformation.

The urgency for diversity pathways is cemented in the historical challenges of racial injustice underscored by recent events highlighting systemic racism. Addressing this is urgent, so we are committed to breaking those systemic barriers while promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and justice within the environmental field.

We acknowledge the diverse career paths within the environmental sector and commit to supporting individuals across various roles, from policy and advocacy to landscaping and wastewater treatment. Every career path is valued and supported.

We recognize the gap in support for experienced individuals of color in environmental careers. Our focus extends from early joiners to mid-career and senior professionals, ensuring opportunities for growth and development throughout the entirety of an individual’s journey in the environmental/conservation field.
